Sgt. Dennis Noble's Hurricane displayed at Tangmere Air Museum
On a visit to Tangmere air Museum in 2010, I came across an exhibit of the remains of a Hurricane shot down over Hove in 1940. It gave details of the incident - in particulat that the wreckage was buried so deeply that it and the pilot's remains were not recovered until 1996. The pilot, Sgt Dennis Noble, was interred the following year in his home town, Retford, Nottinghamshire.
This year there was an article in the Sunday Express about a new public house in Hove built on the crash site. This was named after the pilot following suggestions made by the people of Hove.
