Greetings,
I was wondering if you could help me?? I am trying to identify two cloth badges which I believe are ROC insignia, but have been unable to locate a book or source of information detailing the insignia worn by the ROC post-1945.
If possible do you know of a web site or source of information I could contact?? Or do you know yourself what the badges are?
They are round cloth badges approximately two and a half inches across, black with a laurel wreath and what looks like a "J" in the centre. One is in blue the other yellow/gold??
Any help is appreciated and thank-you for taking the time to read this. Best Wishes Shaun Leighton. [email protected]

I'm hoping you might be able to help or point me to someone who will know the answer.
Do you happen to know any reference to the AWDREY
reporting route from OBAN to UKRAOC.
My memory is that there were preselected routes for passing Tocsin
Bang messages and two group controls had direct links into UKRAOC
at High Wycombe. I think the comms routes took the messages to either the parent
sector or those groups. Annex E of the Training Manual I think referred to them
but mine is long discarded.
My interest stems from the latest entry on the SUBBRIT
website for OBAN which refers to comms links
to Bedford and Lincoln
both of which surprised me.
Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks David Bayston [email protected]
cThere is a new web site for ex-service personnel to trace former colleagues they have lost touch with. Our graphic designer at work has started it with his wife who was in the Signals and had lost touch with a very good friend. As we have lots of ex-service folks in the Association I wonder if you could find space to mention it. Its called www.forcesfinder.co.uk Regards Sheila.

Although the majority of such 'anomolies' can be explained, Im wondering if you might be able to allow me space on the Royal Observer Corp Association Web site when it is 'open' in the hope that any of the members might be able to help me,by either contacting me on the email of PO Box etc. Look forward to hearing from you..... It is important that we find some keen but also experienced people to help keep order and park the aircraft efficiently and safely - we expect to have up to 100-200 aircraft flying in over the weekend.
For the marshals there will be some basic remuneration, free food, and apart from, I should think, some hard work, a good fun weekend with a lot of enthusiastic pilots around, and out for a good time (terrifying prospect), and some really great displays too.
If you would like more information about the event please email/call me:

Memorial Dedicated. |
| At a moving ceremony at the Naional Memorial Arboretum at
Alewas, a parade was held to unveil and dedicate a memorial to all
Halton aircraft apprentices. The memorial consists of a grove of beech
trees to represent the woodlands surrounding Halton. The trees are laid
out in the form of a four-bladed apprentice wheel, one tree for each
participating entry.
Other trees were planted in the name of individual people and sites were allocated for future plantings by qualifying groups. Former apprentices found when they arrived at the arboretum that building work was behind schedule, so the dedication service, held by Commander David Childs, took place before the memorial in the open air. The colours of No1 School of Technical Training, Halton, were brought from their new home at Cosford and paraded with an honour guard. The memorial stone was then unveiled by Gp Capt Ian Blunt, who was a member of the 84th entry and the chairman of Halton Aircraft Apprentices Association, who then took the salute as the ex-apprentices marched past to pay their respects. Hello
I am the Treasurer of the Ruston Spencer ROC Post Museum, this being located at the underground ROC post at Ruston Spencer in Staffordshire.
We have "kept the ROC flag flying" so to speak, since stand down and have a totally restored and fully equipped ROC Post and have obtained an Orlit A post, which we are reconstructing on our site. For about 8 years we have been trying to get a Micklethwaite Post Instrument to complete our equipment, but, with no luck.
We would be most grateful if you could give some publicity to our request, we can swap many items of ROC gear for a Post Instrument, or, as a last resort, purchase one.
Our Museum welcomes visitors and all are welcome, we open at mutually convenient times for us and visitors
Regards and Thank You
