| Subject: Royal Observer Corp - Ch 4 Documentary Series Interest From: Kim L... Date: Fri, 18 Sep 2009 11:58:00 +0100 To: r.mcd... Dear Roy Mark Russell from ROC Remembered recommended I contact you. I am working for a television production company called Impossible Pictures. We have been commissioned by Channel 4 to make a series about The Second World War, with particular emphasis being on the Blitz. I am currently looking for people from all over the country who lived during this time and worked for the Royal Observer Corp to share their experiences with me initially over the phone and then potentially on camera. The series is set to be an exciting and interesting look at the Second World War. However each programme really needs a human voice, first hand accounts from people who lived during this time and contributed to the war effort. I'm wondering whether you're in touch with anyone who belonged to the Royal Observer Corp during WW2 and may be interested in sharing their experiences with me? If so it would be great to have your help on this. I’m also looking for any monitoring posts potentially to include in our filming. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. If there is any further information you require please do get in touch, for background information on Impossible Pictures please go to www.impossiblepictures.co.uk . Best wishes Kim Lask | Assistant Producer | Impossible Pictures Ltd | |

Subject: ROC nuclear bunkers: Lisa Knight Hi I am a student at the University of Plymouth studying photography. I am very
interested in doing a project on ROC nuclear bunkers and the people who used
to work in them. I previously did a smaller project on the ROC bunkers but
I would like to pursue it a lot further as I find them fascinating. I have
seen on your site that there are local groups. I was wondering if you could
help me with putting me into contact with anyone relevant. Kind regards |

I would very much appreciate your assistance in how I can become a member so that I can access his service record. He had a bad curvature of the spine, so could not serve in the regular Army. Subject: Crianlarich Listening Post 1941 Good morning, I am researching the history of my Uncle Flt Sgt DE Green RAFVR He was the pilot of a Lockheed Hudson which crashed into Ben Lui in Scotland on 15/4/1941 I am trying to find records (if there are any) from the Listening Post at Crianlarich which I believe heard the aircraft, and then reported it as crashed to the local constabulary. I think Crianlarich came under 33 Group which had its HQ at Ardmaddy Castle RAF Oban. I would be very interested if you could give me any information in this regard. Best Regards Chris E... |

Subject: RoyalObservercorpsassn. I was a Woman Observer at Bromley from Dec.1943 until standdown on Sat.12th May 1945. I was then Gwendoline Parker and enjoyed my time there with my friend Christina Harrod, who is still alive but unfortunately has lost her memory. While there we had a few WAAFS working with us. How do I register with the association? |

Subject: From: garry s... Dear Sir I would like to ask 2 questions if I may regarding the ROC. Is it possible to establish service details for an ex ROC member? My father Donald William Smith is pushing on the years now, but has mentioned that he served with the ROC for a "while" during the 70's in Inverness, after he had served as a fireman at Inverness Airport. Is it possible to find such records and get a service number etc? I myself am an ex servicemen and recently got my Veterans badge, I would like to know if former members of the ROC are entitled to the badge, as i'd like to try to apply for one for my father. Many thanks for your time |
